Once upon an IAS exam.

Hey there! So how are your assignments and exams going on? I know it’s the season of exams and projects,so here I am with the review of a book related to exams. .
.
Vishy, who is a Mechanical Engineering student tries his luck in the biggest exam of India — IAS.He is from Chennai and is pursuing for IAS.The story starts with Vishy’s failure in his first attempt of IAS, where he fails,Yes! he fails. So with full prompt and enthusiasm,he visits a coaching centre, which turns his life upside down…
.
.
I liked the book.I mean I am not crazy about the book, but it was fun to read. And with one of my cousins pursuing for IAS himself,it is very relatable. The book is filled with details about the exams and the inside news of what happens in those coaching centres. It was easy read with easy language.I am not a fan of the writing style,it was plain, too plain. But however, the plot is commendable. .
.
So if you are looking for a fun, easy book to read on a lazy afternoon when you do not want to indulge in a complicated plot and language, this book is perfect.

BALLADS OF KAZIRANGA

Thanks @niyogi_books for this wonderful book that I finished in one seat.
.
.

The story revolves around three friends,Arunabh and his cousin brother Amal, and Rishi and their experience in the deep rendezvous forest of Kaziranga.
.
.

The book is actually in Assamese but is beautifully translated by Parbina Rashid, who has outdone herself in delineating the beauty of the place. The nature and its aura has been portrayed so flawlessly that you will feel as if you are there yourself, and this is what keeps the readers hooked.
.
.

The plot of the story is yours to read and enjoy. But to give an idea about what you are getting yourself into,I would say that the story is all about Kaziranga and the dreams and lives of these three.
Where Amal is married with two children and Arunabh is a carefree guy who wants to explore,Rishi being his friend they set out to discover the beauty and the beasts cloistered in the woods. It deals with the Government and its pernicious practices done in the depth of Kaziranga. Also the mal practices affairs executed in the national parks away from everyone’s eyes.
.
.

The author has given laughter material in between along with some serious issues explained. The lives and practices of the Asameese people, their faiths and believes are widely speculated here.
.
.
This is a beautiful piece of art,a must read for every travel/fiction readers. The flowy writing style and the catchy plot will definitely get you hooked up to the story.
.
.
I loved every details and the love for nature that the author has vividly shown amidst the characters. The pages echo pangs of stabs in which animal kingdom hearts is sustaining itself. Poaching, corruption and the government doing nothing in return of money is well described here.
.
.

The way Rishi says to the trees, ” No,how could I ever forget you all? You are a part of my existence,my entity. For all eternity,I love you.I will come back to you soon…” made me weep like a baby.
.

Conclusion: 4.5/5, definitely give it a big GO! ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY. ~x .

Classics ain’t going old.

Reading classics have been one of my favourite things. You see,I was born into a very bookish family,my parents handed me Gulliver’s travels instead of Barbie Dolls on my birthdays. And I am grateful for that.So I will be sharing some of my fave classics of all time,so that you can add some ambiance to your life like I have!

Pride and Prejudice :(you saw that coming, didn’t ya?)

Tale of two cities: This is the most celebrated work of Charles Dickens and I will be fangirling bout’ it till I die!

A room of one’s own by Virginia Woolf: This particular book is very dear to my heart.Woolf has that pain, that brings chills. The book is about women and fictions, women writing fictions ir fictions about women.Give it a shot!

The diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank: I love love lovedddd this book! Such a vivid and honest description of the second world war deoesn’t exist. You will laugh with Anne about her sarcastic remarks and will cry when her life is coming to an end,and she knows that.A whole emotional rollercoaster this books is! You should give it a shot,NOW GO AND BUY ITT!

The tenant of Wildfell Hall: You know that child in a home who is the most ignored among all the siblings? Yes,Anne Bronte was the one.She is probably the least famous of all the Brontes, but I promise her work is nowhere less than her sisters, tbh better! I did enjoy the Tenants of Wildfell Hall more than Jane Eyre! Give it a bigggg shot.

Emma: This is another Jane Austen work that I love so much! It is not a very serious read, but then that’s what classics are for,for being a comforter in rainy days under which you sleep so cozily. The story revolves around Emma and Harriet and Mr.Knightly ofcourse. The story is a comedy and of genre romance. So beware single souls!

The catcher in the Rye: A best selling novel from J.D Salinger : A teenage story that revolves around Holden Caulfield. An intriguing and lovely read for a sunny bunny day!

Wuthering Heights: I will not say I hate this book, but didn’t love it either. It wss good read from Emily Bronte and is celebrated by the whole literature world, but somehow I found it a bit monotonous and violent at some points. But if you like romance and revenge, you might actually want to read.Good luck with that!👍

ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES BY JENNIFER NIVEN

All the Bright places by Jennifer Niven.
🌸

I picked this book up with a lot of expectations as it had great reviews and always popped up in my recommended panel. 🌸

It hurts to say,but this book didn’t really live up to my expectations.I knew that this was another young adult book and is called by readers ‘The next fault in our stars’,but didn’t find the ambiance of it anywhere. 🌸

Although I must say it has witty comments and a good plot line to be sure.I LOVED Finch and Violet’s story, their chemistry. And at some points Violet became one of my favorites. But at some point the author has really forced and pushed the characters, like he is ‘trying’ to be witty but is actually not. 🌸

Long story short, it is the story of a girl who wanted to die after her sister’s death and a boy who was weird and was called a ‘freak’ but actually was the hero of the book.He saved the girl from dying and helped her recover from her traumatising past. 🌸

The whole story revolves around the trauma Violet Markey faced after her sister’s death and how she recovered from it with the help of Theodore Finch, but lost some real dear things in the process. What are those..or them? 🌸

It was a slow read for me,but many of my fellow readers who are into YA might love it!

THE SHADOW PRINCESS BY INDU SUNDARESAN

This is a historical fiction based on the biggest Indian empire, the mughal empire 🌸

Sundaresan depicts beautifully the character of Princess Jahanara Begum, upon whose shoulder the biggest responsibilty beholds, now with her mother Mumtaz Mahal dead. 🌸
The novel is set just after Mumtaz’s death. Jahanara is left with 5 growing siblings and a new-born baby sister Gauharara, and also not to mention a grieving and lamenting Emperor who
tends to have no interest left to run the empire. 🌸

With two greedy brothers who are at bay to grasp the power and a sister who is jealous, vile and bitter, will Jahanara be able to get hold of the empire, nonetheless herself? ✨

This novel is a utmost devotion to a father from a daughter, from a sister to a brother and from a failed lover to her lover.Give it a read, its worth reading with Sundaresan’s amazing sober devotion to the Mughal empire being a fascinating story-teller. 🌸

Royal Mughal Ladies and their contributions by Soma Mukherjee

So happy to take part in this readathon, where we can discover the gems of Indian literature. 🌸

This book was an early pick, but totally satisfied being a voracious medieval history lover. This book states some unbelievable and never-known facts of the Mughal Women, some extraordinary stuffs they did. 🌸

The academic history books never lets us know about thr prominent women figures of the medieval history. They only uplift and glorify wars and invasions.Little does one know about the underpinned efforts the women put. 🌸

The writing style is fluent, though I would be a little happier if the book was written in a story-telling style.Although, its a great book for research and discovering purpose. You won’t get bored though. 🌸

THE SUBTLE ART OF NOT GIVING A FUCK BY MARK MANSON

I completed this book today by Mark Manson ,and I am seeing the world differently.Trust me when I say this, not a slightest chance of exaggeration. 🌸

This book is a realistic book that teaches you the importance of ‘fucks’,the number of fucks you give and to set your priorities first. 🌸

The author has described the book in a very lucracious language, which is flowy and subtle, taking you to a world which is way too real,a world that we deny to see notwithstanding the fact its here, just before our eyes.
This book was a hard slap to my built-up world,it literally broke the fort I had built over years around me.It gave me a meaning,a meaning to my life. Added topping on the cake,THE BOOK IS HILARIOUS,FULL OF SARCASM. 🌸 If you are concerned about yourself,or anyone in your life, give this book a shot.It can and it will change the perspective of your life, affecting everyone around you.It will make you realise everything you need to.

I am Malala (An autobiography)

OUESTION: DO YOU LIKE AUTOBIOGRAPHIES?

This was probably the first autobiography I had really picked.I was very head over heels about this book, and not to mention it really lived up to expectations.

This autobiography is not at all mundane and boring like other biographies claim to be.Neither it has heaps of facts nor general knowledge. Its a simple yet bizarre piece of happiness.

Malala is a real inspiration, this book describes the journey of Malala from the first till end,and the enthusiasm and thrill never cease to exist.Every minute detail is well taken care of,and you will feel you are reading another day of any teengers life.

I recomend it to all people who are lacking of motivation in life,to let them know a small bumper in life is not the end of the world, there are bigger problems, there is good after bad, sunrise after every sunset.Cheers 🥂

WUTHERING HEIGHTS BY EMILY BRONTE

#Theindependencedaypost 🌸

Couldn’t wait more to share my feelings with y’all. 🌸

I cannot describe my feelings after reading ‘Wuthering Heights’,its genius, you know it,I know it. 🌸

The characters blowed my mind away. You can feel the aura of a masterpiece since the beginning. The knitting of the whole novel got no loophole. You can literally connect to the complex yet mesmerizing characters. 🌸

You NEED TO READ THIS.This ain’t any cliché romantic classic written 200 years ago, this is relatable till date and so on! 🌸

Ratings:I CANNOT RATE EMILY BRONTE!

A ROOM OF ONE’S OWN AND THREE GUINEAS BY VIRGINIA WOLF

This is the book every one must give a shot.It is made by a lovely collection of notes by a student of Oxbridge college, this book combines beautifully women and fiction, fiction on women or women writing fiction. 🌸

The author researches in British Library about the essay she was given to write. She says “A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction ” 🌸

The book by Virginia wolf is a very witty and modern argument against the subjection of women in literary world. Her essay is a partly fictional-essay that dramatizes the process of her making a character of her being the narrator. 🌸

This emphasises the women author of the 19th century, their contributions and literary works. 🌸

A survey of the current state of literature follows, conducted through a reading the first novel of one of the narrator’s contemporaries. Woolf closes the essay with an exhortation to her audience of women to take up the tradition that has been so hardly deepseated within them but being neglected through ages. She empowers the daughters to increase the making of their ownself. 🌸

The sequel “Three Guineas” is a letter to a gentleman who asks for her help to prevent wars.Wolf also states comparison between the hypocrisy of the era and Victorian patriarch system, also not to mention, futility of wars snd fascism. 🌸
